Theater, Comedy, and Call of Duty: 3 Live Sessions You Won’t Want to Miss at the Center Virtual Festival
There really is something for everyone at the Center Virtual Festival.
We’ve crafted this festival to be a celebration that showcases Latter-day Saint art at its most joyful, unexpected, and alive—with artists who are shaping culture in real time and inviting you to take part. And the best part? You can experience it from anywhere in the world.
Featuring playwrights, comedians, and AAA video game composers, here are three standout live sessions you won’t want to miss:
1. This Will Only Happen Once: Improv and Sketch Comedy with Ty Turley & Friends 🎤😂
What happens when a bunch of comedians from improv institutions like Second City and Upright Citizens Brigade get together on a livestream? Some real funny business, that’s for sure.
Ty Turley and his comedy crew (Mike Brown, Josh Hurley, Katie Barbaro, Billy Succo, and Tova Tencer) are coming to the Virtual Festival live from New York, bringing their unpredictable wit to a show that’s fully shaped by you. Audience members like you will throw out prompts in real time—and the performers will use those ideas to craft scenes, games, and sketches on the spot.
Think SNL meets Whose Line Is It Anyway?, all through a lens that’s fun, smart, and full of surprises.
2. Player One Press Start: The Art and Tech of Video Game Music 🎮🎶
In this fascinating and geeky-deep-dive of a session, composer Benjamin Dean Taylor leads a panel of award-winning composers–Jeff Broadbent, Lance Montgomery, and Chance Thomas–who have worked on everything from Call of Duty to Assassin’s Creed, Resident Evil, X-Men, and The Lord of the Rings games. You’ll hear music demonstrations, see real-time soundtrack editing, and get an inside look at how immersive, emotion-driven gaming soundtracks are built right before your eyes.
It’s one of the most technical sessions of the festival—but also one of the most moving. Don’t miss it!
3. Table Read with Melissa Leilani Larson 🎭
Melissa Leilani Larson is a celebrated voice in contemporary theater and Latter-day Saint literature. At the Center Virtual Festival, you’ll get the chance to step inside an excerpt of one of her scripts in a live virtual table read.
Her award-winning work explores faith, identity, and the intricacies of human experience (you may know her from her Jane Austen adaptations, or Latter-day Saint inspired works like Little Happy Secrets or Pilot Program.)
The playwright has hand-selected a script to be performed aloud by a cast of actors during a live table read. With minimal preparation, it’s a rare opportunity to watch actors bring their characters to life in real time.
This session is a window into how faith-infused narratives are being shaped by today’s most compelling Latter-day Saint voices.

Why Watch?
All three of these sessions are what makes the Center Virtual Festival so special: they’re live, energetic, and connecting on new levels.
Latter-day Saint artists are pushing boundaries, telling new kinds of stories, and using every tool at their disposal to express their belief, identity, and belonging. When we participate, even virtually, we’re becoming part of the creative community that makes it possible.
This festival is a reminder that faith is living, art is alive, and that we’re all in this together. 💙
It’s all happening on May 30-31st. Register to become part of these unforgettable sessions. Can’t attend live? Your ticket also gives you full access to recordings of every festival session for 90 days post-event.
