10 Works You Should Know: Laura Erekson

You may have seen Laura Erekson’s work at the Church History Museum, on public display in the city of West Jordan, or even at the Smithsonian Museum of Art in D.C. You’ll recognize her work by its found objects, plant materials, and large-scale steel sculptures which she impressively welds herself.

As the co-curator of the Latter-day Saint women’s art initiative Certain Women, very few curators know the LDS landscape of contemporary female artists like Laura. With her wealth of knowledge, paring her list down to just 10 was tough. But ultimately, she settled on drawing selections from two Certain Women exhibitions: Measure of Her Creation and the recent Brave Like Eve.
