We are invested in listening & learning from brothers and sisters all over the globe…

June, 2020

Last year, the Center for Latter-day Saint Arts anticipated a 2020 filled with celebrations and festivities, of gallery openings and gatherings. The 2020 we’ve lived is far different than we expected, with the pandemics of COVID-19 and racism ravaging our country and our globe. It has been an uncertain time.

In the wake of the tragic deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor, the Center for Latter-day Saint Arts acknowledges its unwavering commitment to the Black community and to all Black, Indigenous, People of Color. Since its founding, the Center’s unyielding goal is to tell the more global story of the Latter-day Saints. We are invested in listening and learning from our brothers and sisters all over the world; and in sharing the visual arts, histories, narratives, scholarship, films and archives that represent diverse lived experience bound by shared faith tradition.

Although we have shown our commitment to BIPOC through our advocacy of artists in Africa, Latin and South America, as well as diverse artists in the United States, there is more to be done. The Center promises its stakeholders and audiences we will offer inclusive programming that will represent artists identifying with the Latter-day Saint tradition in all corners of the earth and in all segments of society.

 Yours,

The Center for Latter-day Saint Arts
