VisionARY 2020
VALUES
What are the ideals generating the work we do at the Center for Latter-day Saint Arts?
Education
We believe in sharing the cultural and spiritual histories of Latter-day Saint peoples, powerfully told through the arts.
We believe in pursuing and publishing the best possible scholarship about Latter-day Saint arts.
We believe in preserving the works and personal histories of our artists, writers, musicians, and creatives through an archive.
Culture
We believe the Center for Latter-day Saint Arts can be a cultural beacon to its members, to those who culturally identify with the Church, and to a wider public.
We believe in cultivating inclusivity, exploration, and generosity.
We believe in a wide and deep definition of Latter-day Saint and/or “Mormon Arts.”
Home
We believe the Center is a refuge for Latter-day Saint artists, members, and patrons all over the world, of all ages, and in all life circumstances.
We believe the Center is a foundational space to share the transcendent nature of the arts and to connect with feelings about our eternal nature.
We believe the Center should spiritually strengthen individuals, homes and families by making Gospel principles accessible through humanistic modes of learning.
Exploration
We believe in fostering opportunities for artists, musicians, writers, creatives, and scholars to explore projects and collaborations.
We believe in fostering the culture of innovation and creativity.
We believe in being a resource for personal evaluation and communal inspiration—artistically, intellectually and spiritually.
Geography
We believe the Center’s location in the metropolitan and artistic center of New York City underscores the scope of work being done by artists all over the globe, and the intersectionality between valued movements, cultures, religions, and peoples.
We believe in highlighting local artists to local audiences by way of festivals, satellite festivals, and programming.
Generosity
We believe in collaborating well with others.
We believe in always and sincerely saying “thank you” to our donors, friends, and volunteers.
We believe the Center is built on the shoulders of passionate volunteers, and we delight in the commitment that initially founded our organization.
